Rihanna Outshines All With Iconoic Back Catalogue @ 2016 VMAs

Boy oh boy was I losing faith in the 2016 VMA performances. Beyonce was boring, Ariana Grande was vocally a mess and Britney Spears was amateur hour at the Apollo. But then came the Goddess Rihanna who brought not only a plethora of her hits, over multiple performances, but energy, fun and that infectious IDGAF attitude.

Rihanna-Rejected "Cheap Thrills" Bags Sia Her First Hot 100 #1

Congratulations are in order for faceless Diva, Sia.

The infectious  Cheap Thrills has rocketed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, finally wrestling the crown from Drake's AWFUL (yeah, I said it, come for me, bitches!!) One Dance.

Taylor Swift is Currently Being DRAAAAAAAAAGED!!!

Karma has finally come-a-callin from Taylor Swift and her passive aggressive behind.

While in a relationship with Calvin Harris, the Diva had helped the Scottish DJ pen the lyrics for one of his songs. Not wanting to overshadow the project, which Rihanna ended up guesting on, Taylor decided to credit the lyrics to the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg.

Fast forward to the present, the pair have broken up and that song, This Is what You Came For, is making waves worldwide. So what does T-Swift go and do? Now she decides to come from behind the curtain and reveal her involvement in the project. (Yeah, yeah, it was "her team" that confirmed this, but I don't believe for one second this didn't get the okay from the top.)

Well. Mr. Harris, unlike her other beards partners, didn't like the implications of this, and had a little Twitter rant. And this is where the wider backlash began.

Sia-penned "Sledgehammer" Visuals hit Rihanna's Vevo Account

Apparently a fan of Star Trek since a little nipper, Rihanna must have thought Christmas had come early when she was asked to record the theme song for the new film, Star Trek Beyond. Entitled Sledgehammer, the Sia-penned track seemed (on paper) an odd replacement for the orchestral score  movie trailers usually go for. However, it works  really well, being dramatic enough to support the intergalactic visuals.

[New Music] Rihanna & Mike Will Made It - "Nothing Is Promised"

We heard a snippet of Nothing Is Promised when Rihanna was recording Anti. Unfortunately for folk like me who were actually looking forward to hearing the Mike Will Made It track in its entirety, it never shipped with the LP.

[Watch] Rihanna Shocks With Versatile Vocals @ 2016 Billboard Awards

rihanna billboard 2016

Even though Needed Me is the single currently climbing the Hot 100, Rihanna, in her infinite wisdom, decided to forgo giving it that further push by singing it at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. Instead, it was the classic-sounding Love on The Brain that got the gig.

Rihanna Reverts To Type With "Needed Me" Visuals

Another ANTI favourite, Needed me, has just been given the visual treatment.

An altogether more costly affair than sister song, Kiss it Better, it has all the things a moron an impressionable sort could want in a music video:buns, guns, gangsters, money and violence. Does it make any sense. Not to me. Will I watch it again to see if it makes more sense on a second viewing? No.

But y'all have at it.

Is Rihanna's "Kiss It Better" a Rip-Off of Beyonce's "Dance For Me"?

Beyonce vs Rihanna

Rihanna's Anti wasn't an immediate smash for me. Missing the hooks and microwavable pop-production like her other albums, it required a little more dedication before it really took hold. Definitely a risky move from the Diva, since she isn't really known for making music that requires much effort to get into. However, girl done good!

[Watch] Rihanna Brings SZA and Drake To The 2016 BRIT Awards

Having cancelled her performance at the Grammys last week due to “bronchitis”, I was half expecting a similar fate to befall Rihanna's appearance at yesterday's 2016 BRIT Awards. But nope, she turned up and turned it out...to an extent.

[Review] Rihanna Remains Brave with Drake Collaboration "Work"

Rihanna better be getting suitably compensated for being Tidal's guinea pig. The entangling of it and ANTI has been pretty disastrous for the project, consistently messing up its momentum. I say this as someone salty at having to wait to hear her new single, Work. Lord knows I'm not signing up to Tidalwave for it.

Being pushed as the first "real" release from the Diva's new LP,  the cut sees her teaming up with dad dancer Drake, as well a producer [Kuk Harrell] of their previous smash collab', What’s My Name. Knowing both these things- pre hearing- had me sweating Rihanna had gone and done a 180 on the initial experimental nature of the project, and was now back chasing hits.

Rihanna Tackles "Back To Black" For "The Voice"....Yeah, It Sounds Just How You Thought It Would!!!

Queen Rihanna was on The Voice this week, dishing out advice to Pharrell Williams' hopefuls on how to make their performances slay! But She didn't just impart, verbally- which might have been the better idea. Rih also DEMONSTRATED said suggestions, live and in person.

[Watch] Rihanna Impresses @ "Rock In Rio 2015"

What I am about to say is relative to Rihanna's standards. So don't go in expecting vocal virtuosity when I say she sounded really good during her massive set at Rock In Rio 2015.

Rihanna Comes For Old Accountant With" B*tch Better Have My Money" Visuals

I was beginning to think the visuals for B!tch Better Have My Money had been lost at sea.

Having been months since the song debuted, I'd figured that the swift followed-up of American Oxygen was surely a sign that BBHMM was DOA.  But never fear, Rihanna clearly had a message she wanted to send with this. One that appears to be aimed squarely at the accountant who messed with her millions back in 2012.

Kelly Clarkson Covers "B*tch Better Have My Money" For Radio 1's "Live Lounge"

I LOVE Kelly Clarkson for doing this! Maybe even more so than I did for her covering my beloved Mariah Carey.

Rihanna's B*tch Better Have My Money managed to smother all my good senses and worm its way into my affections after its release a few months back. And it warms my soul to know it managed to do the same thing to powerhouse vocalist Kelly Clarkson! I mean, she has Jesus on her side and still couldn't resist! What hope did I have?!

[Watch] Rihanna Makes Politcal Statement With "American Oxygen" Video

Rihanna's R8 campaign seems to consist solely of the Diva taking risk after risk, breaking away from any kind of status quo established previously.

First we had lead single FourFiveSeconds being folksy, generally all kinds of different and having a significant chunk sung by a rapper many were turned off by. That was followed up by B***h Better Have My Money, which though more familiar in style for the diva, had profanity in the title that was repeated often in chorus. Hardly a way to gain radio favor. And now we have single three, American Oxygen, which on hearing alone sounded like a track pandering to a nation she, and most her listeners, aren't even citizens of.

Rihanna Rocks IHeart Music Awards With "Better Have My Money"

Rihanna had the right attitude, a ballsy set piece - a damn helicopter, no less- and the perfect attire to perform her latest, very risky, single B**** Better Have My Money at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. It's just a shame the song is- as much as it breaks my heart to say- terrible*.

Seriously, the R8 campaign has been such a mess thus far. Considering it's the longest the Diva has kept us waiting for a new album, I was really expecting more of a bang from the return of one of the world's biggest stars.

Also, will someone please get Kanye away from Ms. Fenty and her music. Thanks!

Rihanna Demos Continued Vocal growth on "Towards The Sun"

On hearing the head-tones in the opening of Towards The Sun, I was convinced that this song, taken from the soundtrack of Home, must have been from some other Diva also going by the name "Rihanna". After all, when had we ever heard "our" Rih sounding like this in her decade-long career.

Rihanna Delivers Flawless Vocals At 2015 Grammy Awards

Rihanna brought the vocals to the 2015 Grammy Awards! Praise Jebus! I was genuinely shocked at how effortlessly they flowed from her too- especially after peeping the smoking pre-show picture on Instagram. Even Paul McCartney's mush mouth, confused "singing" wasn't enough to distract me from what I was beholding.

[Music Video] Rihanna - "FourFiveSeconds"

Anyone who's seen the promo pic for Rihanna's FourFiveSeconds knew what was coming from its accompanying video.
